Recently celebrating their first birthday<\/a>\u00a0at their Melrose location <\/a>in the West Hollywood Design District<\/a>, Arteriors has proven to be a neighborhood favorite and\u00a0leading vendor of luxury lighting.\u00a0Seeking to\u00a0constantly find\u00a0innovative ways to create timeless pieces that also appeal to “design lovers with up-to-date sensibilities,” Arteriors’\u00a0latest guest designer Windsor Smith does just that with her forty-piece collection debut.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Windsor Smith’s guest designer collection for Arteriors nods to classicism, but also incorporates her own unique and modern twists.\u00a0She boldly pares down iconic motifs of Greco-Roman detailing to a new simplicity, and then uses finishes reminiscent of Danish Modern. The juxtaposition of the time periods and materials create an appeal that feels both now and timeless.<\/p>\n

Windsor describes the story behind this collection as \u201cRenaissance girl meets urban boy\u201d\u2026it is about opposites. \u201cI like using feminine and masculine elements, architectural and soft elements, to create a dynamic that I find really intriguing. The Crete Lamp is the perfect example of a feminine laurel form in a masculine, hard metal,\u201d says Windsor.<\/p>\n

\u201cFashion influences my design in a powerful way. I\u2019m really inspired by iconic jewelry pieces. The Athena Sconce is a perfect example of that,\u201d explains Windsor. \u201cIt\u2019s very feminine and mystical, it\u2019s both glass and metal and it\u2019s reflective.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the Atlas Sconce is faceted and strong, like a man\u2019s watch bezel.\u201c<\/p>\n

Windsor\u2019s favorite piece in the collection is the Elis Bench.<\/p>\n

\"Elis<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI love the way the gray suede plays against its geometric form. I think it\u2019s the ideal mix of modern and Renaissance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted a classic line that is also really incredibly sexy, and Arteriors gave me the opportunity to do that. I\u2019m selecting motifs that feel really familiar to us, but at the same time they\u2019re drawing us into the future. My goal is that every piece in this line will be the heirlooms of tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Windsor Smith is the fourth guest designer Arteriors has worked with. We feel that offering another designer\u2019s point of view different from our own\u00a0helps keep our assortment fresh and pushes us to explore new materials and finishes. For this collection, we gave Windsor the creative freedom to design pieces she\u2019s only imagined. The result is a beautiful collection that is elegant and luxurious, while remaining practical and useable\u2026and as she promised, the heirlooms of tomorrow.<\/p>\n
